Horticulturalists

 Japanese horticulturalists have been using biochar for hundreds of years. They advocate digging biochar in a trench around struggling trees, to boost the productivity of healthy soil microfauna and flora. 

Biochar has also been shown to increase yields of a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. We are investigating this through the Big Biochar Experiment.

Biochar is 100% organic. The Soil Association approved the application of Oxford Biochar products on the River Cottage farm.

We are trialling biochar on several farms. We supply biochar for the trials and advice on how to run the trials.
